Good Coordinator hires by Mangini

I love the hire of Rob Ryan, he should bring some exotic fronts to the defense just like his brother Rex Ryan in Baltimore. Josh Cribbs should be smiling about the hire of Brad Seely, he is one of the best special team coaches in the business. The Brian Daboll hiring is the one I don't feel the best about because he has never called plays before and Mangini is not a offensive coach. So that leaves the Browns with an inexperience play caller on offense. The plus side to Daboll is its rumored he will run the same Charlie Wies offense that Brady Quinn ran at Notre Dame.

The Mangini has landed...

Looks like Randy Lerner got his man. The Cleveland Browns will introduce their new coach at a press conference tomorrow. The brother in-law of Mark Shapiro general manager of the Cleveland Indians will be the forth full time coach of the expansion Browns. My take on the hire is two fold; I hope he has learned from his mistakes in New York and that Randy Lerner gets the general manager hire correct. The key to this new regime working is the head coach and front office being on the same page. Here is to hoping that history repeats itself with this second time head coach as it has with other second time head coaches. The last ten super bowls have resulted in 8 second time head coach winning the big trophy. We could only be so lucky as Browns fans if that happens.

Local beat writers are having trouble finding the truth

After reading several of the articles in TheFeed to the right, the only site that has right info on the GM search is the cle.scout.com. The OBR is the place to go for latest updates on this search. The local media from Boston and Cleveland have been flip flopping like politicians the past few days, reporting that deals are off and on from one article to the next.

I remember when the Browns hired Phil Savage their were reports all the way up to the press conference that he wasn't going to be hired and the Browns lost out. So Cleveland Browns fans keep check the the OBR site and wait until a quote directly from Randy Lerner or Scott Pioli comes out.

Happy New year!
